14 JanNew Years Eve Coming Attraction

I’ve never shot a New Years Eve wedding before, and for my maiden voyage, this was an absolute blast! Kyle & Laura, your wedding was so much fun, and Laura, you looked stunning. Spending New Years Eve with you both and all your family and friends was an honor and a privilege.

Hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon!

09 Nov“Jason and I have been stalking your blog everyday!”

Jason & LizWell, stalk no more… it’s here!

Jason & Liz, I feel so honored to have been part of your wedding. It’s funny how such a last minute decision could have turned out so well. Liz, it was such a pleasure to sit with you and your mom that Friday afternoon in the i-do boutique, chatting about your wedding. I’m so glad you decided to get a wedding film, and that you chose me to capture and create it.

The weather looked questionable, but turned out to be an amazing fall day. What a blast it was at Ault Park with your family, wedding party and the rockin’ Chad Moon. As promised, I’m happy to present your Coming Attraction Trailer, a tease of your future wedding film.

Enjoy!

Peace,
Dan

14 Octi-do boutique

idoboutique1If you haven’t heard of the i-do boutique, you should stop by their website at www.i-do-boutique.com. Brigid Horne-Nestor of i-do Weddings and Events envisioned a place that’s beautiful and relaxing, where any bride can stop by and receive complimentary information about different vendor choices in a wide variety of categories, look at photographs, and even listen to or watch demos right there in the boutique.

Brigid only invited a few vendors from each category to be represented in the i-do boutique, and Poetic Cinema has been blessed and honored to be included. It’s truly an honor to me personally and the growth of my business to be included among such talented and respected vendors, by a talented and respected wedding and event planner.

So, please stop by the website at www.i-do-boutique.com, or stop in the boutique itself and check it out! It’s located in O’bryonville at 2009 Madison Road, just a little bit south of Hyde Park.

13 OctHappy Birthday to my amazing wife!

tricia Today is my wife’s birthday. What a blessed day it is for me, to celebrate the day my soulmate came into this world. She is so amazing, and I’m the luckiest guy in the world that she puts up with me!

Honey, I hope this birthday is amazing! Love ya!

02 OctElations Testimonial film

Larry was so down-to-earth and fun to talk to. Having the opportunity to hang out with him on the golf course and talk about a product he just loves was so much fun. He used to have knee problems, but that was until he starting using Elations. Pop Design Works contracted me to create a video featuring his story. A video makes a much more powerful statement compared to just reading a text-based testimonial. Watch and see for yourself how Elations helped him improve his life.

23 SepIt’s been so long…

Well, it’s been about 12 years since I’ve done a wedding photography gig. Boy do I miss those days sometimes. I love creating films much more, but this was a blast! Dale Birmingham of Dale Martin Studios invited me along as camera 2 for his wedding on Sept 18th, and I wanted to share a few photos that were my favorite. I sure am rusty, but I think these came out good.

What do you think?

02 SepBlast from the Past! [ a wedding highlight ]

Even & Ellen, my first real wedding video. Thanks for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to hang with you both on such a phenomenal day! I wanted to post this on your anniversary last month, but I’m very late. Happy late anniversary though!!

Dan

29 Jul“I love your jewelry… where did you get that?”

My wife, Tricia, gets that a lot at work and out shopping. She has been making handmade bead and gem jewelry for a little over a year now, and has even moved into some metalworking. It started as a hobby, but she’s starting to get more and more serious. She’s very skilled, very creative, and I’m very proud of her! She’s also really shy about taking compliments.

If you don’t already know, I love photography. So, I decided to start taking some fun, pretty pictures of her jewelry. I’m currently working on a website for her work, but it’s a little ways out from launch. In the meantime, I wanted to share some shots of her work.

25 JulBentley Chiropractic commercial spot

While I enjoy producing wedding films more than any other, it’s certainly not all I do. I want to share a commercial spot I did recently for YellowPages.com. Their client is Bentley Chiropractic.

Originally, the President of Bentley Chiropractic, Dr. A.J. Bentley, wanted a piece that highlighted more than anything his modern equipment and technology. But, after some conversation and listening to the incredible testimonials, I thought a more emotional route was more appropriate, which fit in well with me wedding edit style. They loved it! I was able to include his modern chiropractic equipment, while also focusing on how his services have helped transform the lives of his patients.

Check the finished piece out below or at YellowPages.com.

Dan

09 Jul“Just one more game??” [ a wedding trailer ]

That’s what my son, Hayden, said at the bowling alley, just before we were about to leave. We agreed, and 2 frames later, met Ben & Tiffany, who happened to be bowling right next to us. After some small talk, I found out they were getting married in June, and had not yet hired a videographer. Strike!

Ben & Tiffany, it was so great to meet you both that day at the bowling alley, and you both were so awesome to be with all day on June 6th. Your wedding party was awesome, and your family a joy to talk with. And you’re wedding… just spectacular! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day.

Here’s your wedding movie trailer, to give you a tease of what’s to come…

Peace,
Dan
